Bilateral Economic Relations with the Countries of North Africa and the Arab Region

The MENA Region (Middle East & North Africa) is comprised of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen and Iran. Austria's trade with these countries amounted to € 4.7 bn in 2017, forming 1.6 percent of Austria's total trade.

According to the statistical data of 2017 Austrian imports from the region rose by 2.9 percent to 1.7 bn €, but exports decreased by -6 percent to 3 bn €.  

The main destinations for Austrian exports in the region in 2017 were the UAE with € 640 m, Israel with € 399 m, and Saudi Arabia with € 368 m. The main sources of imports from the region in 2016 were Libya with € 371 m, Iraq with € 339 m and Morocco with € 174 m.
