According to consolidated trade statistics for 2017, most of Austria's trade in goods is still conducted primarily with EU Member States. However, trade outside the European Union is of high importance with a share of 27 percent in exports and 29 percent in imports.
In 2017, Austria's trading activities outside the European Union amounted to € 86 bn, whereby imports accounted for € 43 bn and exports for € 43 bn. Austrian exports to non-EU countries in 2017 increased by more than seven percent in comparison to 2016.
